28 Oct 2026
WELCOME NICK PEPPER – MELBOURNE POLO CUP 2026
The Victorian Polo Association is pleased to welcome Nick Pepper as our Independent and Chief Umpire for both the 8 Goal and 2–4 Goal competitions at the 2026 Melbourne Polo Cup.
Nick brings a wealth of experience, and we look forward to having him officiate throughout the tournament.
REMINDER – UMPIRE PONIES
All teams are reminded of their responsibility under the Australian Rules of Polo to provide suitable umpire ponies. All teams over the course of the tournament will be required to supply umpire ponies. Please check this section carefully in the Games and Duties Roster.
Please ensure that:
-
Umpire ponies are safe, fit, sound and suitable for the level of polo being played.
-
Ponies are appropriately warmed up and presented on time, ready for the umpire.
-
Ponies are correctly tacked up for polo, with equipment in good working order.
-
Ponies must not be excessively fresh, green, difficult to control or displaying undesirable behaviour.
-
If an umpire considers a pony unsuitable, the team must provide a suitable replacement.
YELLOW FLAG: Players are reminded that presenting an unsuitable or dangerous umpire pony may result in a yellow flag being awarded to the responsible player/team captain.
Providing a suitable umpire pony is an important responsibility, ensuring the safety of our officials and the smooth running of the tournament.
We thank all teams for their cooperation and look forward to a fantastic Melbourne Polo Cup!
