Victorian Polo Season 2022/23

Dear Members 

 

We are fast approaching the beginning of the Victorian Season. Our first scheduled tournament is at Mount William on the 22 and 23rd October, shortly followed by the Melbourne Polo Cup starting on the 28 October.

 

We wish everyone a safe return to polo for the start of the 2022/23 season. As an athlete, it’s wise to treat your body like you’re an athlete. This means engaging in physical activity that’s geared toward riding, taking care of your mental wellbeing, and prioritizing skill improvement and competitive preparedness. The more physically fit you are, the more resilient your body is. Riding will take less of a toll on you physically and you’ll be able to perform at your best.

 

There are currently 20 very competitive teams accepted in the Melbourne Polo Cup. Most of these teams are playing interstate before the commencement of this tournament. 

 

The VPA strongly encourage you to ensure that you and your ponies have as many opportunity’s as possible to exercise, ride, stick and ball and play before you take to the field in competition. If you are unable to play interstate in the weeks leading up to the start of the season please ensure you utilise what’s available in Victoria. We really want all players and horses to be fit and healthy prior to taking the field and reduce as many injuries as possible. 

Your polo memberships are now due for renewal. Please purchase a membership well in advance of taking to the field.
