Welcome to the 2020 Victorian Polo Association Championships held at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre on fields two and three.

We welcome invites for 10, 4 and 0 goal polo. Only team nominations with the exact or lower handicap will be accepted. Please note that C1 rules (effective 1st October 2020) regarding handicap limits on teams and individual players will be strictly adhered to. Please visit polorules.com for clarification.The handicap limits on teams and individual players set out below apply for all tournaments. Any variations to these limits need to be approved by the host clubrsquo;s tournament committee. If the handicap of a player or players in a team has been raised during the season then:

A team will not be allowed to play over the handicap limit with a player raised mid-season without the permission of the relevant tournament committee.
The same rules as the above shall apply as to the handicap limits for individual players.
If a club chooses to allow any upper limit to be exceeded for a club tournament the team exceeding them shall give the opposing team the number of goals by which both the team and any player has exceeded the limit in addition to any handicap difference. If the other teams have not been notified, they shall be allowed to withdraw should they wish to do so.

12g & Above: * The minimum individual handicap is -1. This shall not be counted towards a teamrsquo;s total handicap for entry purposes. eg. In a 12g tournament a -1 player may not play with three other players worth 13 goals. The handicap of a -1 player shall be included in the team’s total handicap to decide any handicap start at the beginning of a game.

Polo is now a  contact sport. COVID protocols apply. Please supply your own whistle and shirt for umpiring duties. The shirt used for umpiring can be the standard black and white stripe, plain white or a hi viz vest can be worn.

Off The Track will be awarding best playing pony rugs in all 3 grades. To qualify you must display an OTT disc on your tack. Full details of the horse will need to be provided in order to claim your prize.

This weekend we will be allowing you to ‘Opt out’ of goal judging duties. In order to opt out you must select this option on check out. For $100 you will be exempt from goal judging duties for the tournament. If you do not take this option and fail to turn up to your duty you will be fined $200 and not allowed to participate in Melbourne City Polo Club tournaments/chukkas until this has been paid. You may find someone to replace you but the onus will be on the listed goal judge to ensure this duty is completed.

We are organising a coffee van on Saturday and Sunday and look forward to seeing as many of you there for polo this weekend as possible.

Nominations will close strictly at 4pm on Thursday 26th November. The draw will be posted on the VPA website at some stage on Thursday evening. Any issues with the portal please contact secretary@vicpolo.com.au

The vet on call for this weekend is from Western Equine Veterinary Services. The number to call is 0418 385 223. For weekend calls please listen to the message bank to get the direct number for the vet on call at the time. The vet has been notified of polo this weekend.
