Vale: Sinclair Hill
Australian polo has lost one of its true legends.
Sinclair Hill, a towering figure in the sport, passed away at the age of 92 following an accident on his farm near Nowra on Sunday.
Sinclair was one of the greatest characters in Australian polo history.
One of only two Australians ever to achieve a 10-goal handicap, his influence on and off the field was immeasurable.
For decades, he cast an enormous presence in the game and remains a revered figure nationwide.
An inaugural inductee into the Australian Polo Federation Hall of Fame, Sinclair—alongside fellow 10-goaler Bob Skene—holds the rare distinction of being one of the Hall’s only ‘immortals.’
The polo community extends its deepest condolences to Wendy and the extended Hill family.
Details of Sinclair’s funeral will be announced in the coming days.
The APF and Polo NSW will publish a tribute to Sinclair’s remarkable life and welcome contributions via nsw@australianpolo.com.au.
